I have turned to the dark side...But not to the detriment of my beloved German. I've
been accumulating French versions of my favourite resources. French 'seems' like the logical choice- it's really important to central and north Africa. Plus Belgium, my no.2 country! The deciding factor has been the realisation that when I'm writing out my German vocab, the English translation is very frequently a French word! So, I'm going to push on with my studies. My intention is to get to to A2 and reassess. Depending on how I feel, I'll carry on or allow myself to drop it. It's not a 'must' for me. Just a handy to have. Resources: Hugo Complete (French in 3 Months and Advanced French), Living German. No Assimil just yet as I'm not set enough in my motivation to justify the expense. Will reassess after 2 months. Looking though my DVDs, I have, with French soundtrack: Singin' In the Rain Gone with the Wind Pixar Shorts Ghostbusters 1 & 2 Wizard of Oz Amelie Friends (5 eps) Now, on with the actual hard work! W/b 12/05/14
Took frenchtest.com cefr test today. Put me at A1.1, so not far off a total newbie. Score was 47.3% at the A1 level. Failed every other level. Goals for this week: Complete Hugo week 1 & 2 Living French Lesson 1 1 person has voted this message useful | |

French is dead in the water. I just can't be bothered to study it. I managed all of 30
mins the first week, and perhaps an hour the second week. I'm not going to beat myself up over it. Rather, take it as the opportunity to try something completely different or do my Mandarin. Vive l'Allemagne! 1 person has voted this message useful |
