Journal Entry #1: I am writing this log to hold myself accountable during my language learning forays. First up on the language learning chopping block is Spanish. I love the sound of the language and have many chances around me to utilize the language. I am most inspired by the methodology used by Iversen as I feel I learn much the same way he does. Thus, I will be utilizing his methodologies to learn the Spanish language. Stayed tuned as this will certainly prove interesting and I do plan to give it the old college try.

ESP: Today, I began untilizing some of Iversen's intensive reading methods on a Spanish text. The text is relatively short (20 chapters), but with this intensive approach it is best to go slow. I finished three pages and consider this a major accomplishment. I love the idea of learning to read and write a language before learning to speak it.
BAR: I hand-copied two pages of bar material as today, I also begin prepping for the July 2014 Exam.
Overall, my entire day felt like a masterpiece of minimalism, but everyone must begin somewhere.

SP: I moved onto Iversen's 'translating and retranslating' phase (No.3) and begin creating my first 'green sheet' on construction paper. I'm still finishing up chapter one and hope to move onto chapter two in the next few days. Iversen was right about experiencing a bonus effect: having the original sentence 'on hold' in you head does give you the sensation of having invented it yourself.
BAR: I hand-copied five answers from my Contracts section and have set an objectiove to hand-copy 30 questions each day for the next 30 days. Stay tuned...

Edward,
Excellent to see that there’s another log starting at the same time as my own! Looks like we’re both starting from
the ground up (albeit in two different languages).
Let’s keep each other motivated and accountable!
Bonne chance & buena suerte!
Rac.

Diglot,
I'm game if you are you. I plan to log my progress each day to ensure that I remain accountable to myself and my objective. We both have our work cut out for us, but we can do it! I think this may be the beginning of a beautiful friendship.
A la prochaine,
Edward

SP: I continued with my intensive reading program (based on Iversen's methodology). I am still progressing through chapter one and I hope to finish it before the end of the week. I have 21 chapters to complete to finish my first book in Spanish. However, my main objective is to remain consistent with studies and see the program through to its conclusion. There is goal at the end of this rainbow.
BAR: I completed my first 35 questions and begin on the next 35. Next week I plan to incorporate some essay writing into my regimen. However, easy does it. The key is to sip slowly and deliberately from this cup of knowledge as if savoring a fine wine, not chug it like two-buck chuck.
