**YESTERDAY**
-- Practiced handwriting for Ch 35 of NPCR I think dialogue 2? -- Skritter for 43 minutes -- Anki reviews complete -- Completed readings for chapter 34 of NPCR Spent most of this day not near the computer. I churned the mint chip ice cream, made pavlovas, and shepherds pie for dinner. I was too stuffed to try the icecream then but I had some today and it was yummy :D **TODAY** -- Skritter ~30 minutes -- Completed FSI Module 3 Unit 4 -- Completed Pimsleur III tracks 17,18 -- Completed FSI Module 3 Unit 5 -- Watched an episode of Office Girls. Really liked it. I think i'll watch an episode a day. Sadly I couldn't find an ep with chinese subs but since this was just for leisure I gave up looking. -- Anki reviews complete -- Listened to chapter 4 of 向左向右 while reading. I did a lot more today mostly because I felt inspired and also because my dad decided to make Manti today and it ends up as a bit of a group effort to make the manti's by hand (pinching the dough together and what have you). **July 22**
-- Completed FSI Module 3 Unit 6 C1 -- Completed Pimsleur III track 19 (only 22 minutes though) Really unproductive day in terms of chinese-studies. But I cleaned a lot and returned my books to the library so that was something xD **July 23** -- Completed NPCR chapter 35. -- Completed Pimsleur III; 19 (re-listened),20,21,22 -- Completed FSI Module 3 Unit 6 P1, D1 -- Watched Office Girls -- Skrittered for 1 hour Spent most of the day making flashcards with the sample sentences from Skritter. This took a long time and i'm still a long way to go **YESTERDAY** -- Completed FSI Module 3 Review 1 -- Completed Anki reviews Gah another lazy day. It started out strong (I made flashcards for the FSI review tapes like I always do) but then my friend called and asked if I wanted to go out biking with her. We spent a long time biking (+5 miles) and by the time I had a headache and no desire to do anything but lounge :( **TODAY** -- Completed FSI Module 3 Review 2 -- Completed FSI Restaurant 1 and 2 -- Completed FSI Hotel 1 and 2 -- Watched episode 3 of Office girls -- Completed Anki reviews -- Listened to chapter 5&6 of 向左向右 while reading. -- Completed Skritter reviews for 50 minutes -- Watched episode 46 of Growing up with Chinese I woke up with the same headache but fortunately after some aspirin and zen-silence it went away by about 10 or 11. The FSI optional courses are a little more difficult and I think I may listen to them again to write down the sentences and add the vocabulary to the skritter list and sentences to Anki. On a side note, I think mixing fun with studying keeps me from crashing and surprisingly I get a lot more done if I give myself about an hour of leisure. 1 person has voted this message useful | |

I know.. bad right? 7/30: -- Completed FSI Module 4 Unit 3 -- Attempted to completed Pimsleur III track 27 (only got 12 minutes in) -- Skritter for 45 minutes 7/31: -- Completed FSI Module 4 Unit 4 -- Completed Pimsleur III track 27 Another lazy day. I crocheted a different project since I ran out of yarn for the other project. Unfortunately this one required thought... so it was harder to do language tapes simultaneously. Oh and today was my professed 'last lazy day for the summer' **TODAY** -- Completed Anki reviews -- Completed FSI Module 4 Unit 5 -- Completed Pimsleur III tracks 28,29, and 30 (only 16 minutes in( -- Skritter for 40 minutes Not entirely productive but not entirely lazy. :D I've only got a month left before I go back to school and I'm going to make it my mission to cram as much Chinese in my brain as possible. **TODAY**
-- Completed Pimsleur III track 30 -- Anki reviews done + added flashcards -- Completed FSI Module 4 Review tape 1 -- Skrittered for 1 hour -- Watched Office Girls episode 9 I haaaaaaaate making flashcards. I think theyre useful to review, and I like having made my own BUT nothing will make me hate the process of making them. As I've written before, I make flashcards for Anki off of the review tapes. So basically that means a whole lot of repeating to make sure I wrote it correctly and re-reading what I wrote to make sure I didn't hit the wrong character. I started on the second review tape but it was too frustrating to continue so I just decided to watch Office Girls to blow off steam. -- FSI Module 4 Review 2 -- FSI Personal Welfare Unit 1 -- Anki -- Skritter 1 hour 15 minutes (added new words too) 8/4 -- FSI personal welfare Unit 2 and 3 -- Anki -- FSI Post office unit 1 -- Skritter 1 hr 30 minutes + new words 8/5 -- FSI Post Office Unit 2 -- 2 eps of Office girls -- Anki -- Skritter 1 hr 40 mins 8/6 -- FSI Module 5 unit 1 -- Skritter 50 mins -- Office girls 2 eps (12 &13) 8/7-9 LAZY Just kept up with Skritter reviews (1 hour each day except for the 8th where I relaxed because it was a holiday **happy eid!** 8/10 -- NPCR 36 Dialogue 1 covered -- FSI Module 5 unit 2 8/11 -- NPCR 36 Dialogue 2 covered -- FSI Module 5 Unit 3 and 4 complete -- Anki -- Skritter 1 hour 8/12 -- FSI Module 5 Unit 5 complete -- Skritter 2 hours GAH. I'm so tired no joke. Module 5 is HARD. I feel like my brain has gone to mush. And Skritter is not helping. Since I'm nearly at the 1500 mark the reviews take longer to get through and I wake up to 700 reviews smiling at me and not even in a happy wee face but in this tauntingly mocking face that tries to say 'haha, you're SO not getting through these...'. Yeah.. I think I've reached somewhat of a breaking point, But I wont back down! Nothing but Skritter reviews.. yes I agree, very lazy 8/16 -- Completed FSI M5 U6 -- Watched office girls episode 14 -- Finished chapter 36 of NPCR3 -- Watched Growing up with Chinese ep 47 8/17-8/18 Just kept up with Skritter reviews.. more lazy, see a pattern? 8/19 -- Completed FSI M5 Unit 7 -- Watched episode 48 of Growing up with Chinese -- Watched Office girls episode 15 8/20 -- Completed chapter 37 of NPCR 3 (& practiced handwriting too) -- Skritter for 1 hour 30 mins 8/21 Weak attempt at FSI M 5 unit 8.. && watched episode 49 of growing up with chinese 8/22 -- Completed the neglected Anki reviews. PHEW Hard but glad i got through it -- Skrittered for 1 hour, no new words -- Completed FSI M 5 Unit 8 -- Finished NPCR3 chapter 38 (&& practiced handwriting too) -- Read 2 chapters of 我可以请你跳舞吗？ -- Watched growing up with Chinese lesson 50 I'm not sure why but this week I just seemingly crashed and burned. But I think its been due... judging by my logs I can tell there was a moment of frustration and lack of desire in keeping up. But then I woke up today and before anything else I wrote a list of things I wanted to get done. And then I started them. I'm not sure if this is what pushed me to get back into my studying habit but whatever it was I'm glad it worked. I feel so good right now. I just ordered the next volume of NPCR series and I'm excited to start Module 6 of FSI (Although I wont start just yet, I still want to go over review tapes make flashcards *ugh* and go over the extra tapes). Gah anyway I'm just glad I got through my dead-barrier. And on a totally unrelated note, I just remembered why I stopped watching asian dramas a while back. Theyre soooo annoying to watch and so unbelievable. My brain is still like wtf why did these characters even get together. And then theres weird unromantic things involved with dramas (Ill never get the embracing a guy frm the back and hugging). Sigh. End rant. If I didnt like some characters (aka the boss, and the supervisor lady) I think i'd trash the drama. Also the main guy is cuuuuute :D hehe.. yes.. I'm weak. I slacked
Got lazy Crash... burn... fail D: But I'm back. And decided to set somewhat concrete goals, so here goes ** GOAL ** Start Date: October 12 2013 End Date: January 1 2014 1-- Finish ALL FSI tapes 2-- Complete NPCR book 4 3-- Hit the 2500 word & character mark on Skritter That's it so far. I probably wont get around to adding new words until after this week, so far I brought my 2900 reviews on skritter down to 1000 *phew* by doing 30-40 mins a day and getting through roughly 500 reviews, (Skritter adds about 200-300 reviews a day so its not easy but i'm getting there) I'm currently on M6U4 of FSI tapes and I think I'll have to restart my textbook because I lost where I left off on. Just a little note if all works out I'm HOPING to finally go to China in 2014. So I really want to do as much as I can so the trip wont be useless. But nothing is set in stone, all fingers crossed that I can finish up school in the winter. 1 person has voted this message useful |
