I Started out planning to study Russian but I decided that I need to know more about it
after reading some of the post made by Aya at learnlangs.com So I decided to study
German. which is a language that I am familiar with but I have not studied it intensely
maybe like a month. I understand the pronunciation and spelling, which I think is
important before one starts to L-R. I am also thinking of extended the trial to maybe 10
days instead of 7

Good luck!

Have you read Lord of the Rings before in English?

No But I am a fast reader so I will dedicate two days to reading at least the fellowship
of the rings while I look up small things about Russian. It seems that there are no
interlinear text available for Lord of the Rings.
And in the method she suggested learning about the language if there are no interlinear
files available.

I'm a fast reader and it took me more than two days to read The Fellowship Of The Rings in my native English. I wish you the best.

Ok so things have changed a bit. I decided that russian is to hard at the moment so I
went back to German. Now I still have not a lot of experience in German but´I know the
basics. I studied it for a month prior. So my German is at the state where I know
pronunciation and I can pick out a good amount of words (300) or guess. I know I switch
between languages alot but I am ready to settle with German though I need to learn
russian for work.

Ok so Day One.
Time Read: 4hr
Time with German:0

Ok so there is not much that I did yesterday but that was mainly because once I came
home from classes there was a snow storm here which usually would mean great study time
write. well no because my small sister was here as well so that means she wants me to
play in the snow with her. Then when I finally get to study I decided that Russian wont
work for me. So I had to find text in German. I also noticed the love wasn't there for
LOTR because it seemed like a chore. So I decided to use Sherlock Holmes. What a great
decision I love crime mysteries and Sherlock does it best so it felt fun. The problem
was finding a complete "hörbuch" though I am glad gutenberg has both of the text.
So if anzone has suggestions on what is next I am open or if anyone would like to give
advice.

It wasn't clear from your post whether you found the audiobook you were seeking or not. FYI, here are
two
free audiobooks of Sherlock Holmes stories in German:

Späte Rache
Das Zeichen der Vier

Also, there are numerous free German audiobooks (but no Sherlock Holmes, at present)
here.

oh sorry I did they are on youtube but it is not complete it is chapter by chapter with
different readers and sometimes the reading is kind of weird so I have to adjust to them.
which kills the vibe.
