Dutch! Wow! To me you sounded just like a native Dutch person...

I had never heard spoken Esperanto and it was great to be able to hear it for the first time! I could understand quite a lot of what you were saying just from knowing bits of other languages. I really like Esperanto and it's such a pity we can't use it as a language for everyone to communicate in across the EU. It's really genius.

Thanks for posting the video it was great to watch!

EDIT: I have a question actually - I wonder if you could explain a bit about how and when you decided to learn Esperanto. (I think you touched the subject in the video but didn't go into detail. What motivated you to learn this, and why should somebody consider learning it?)   What's the situation with accents in Esperanto? You and the interviewer had different "accents" I think?!

Gajege estis vidi 'Fasulye' de la tia turka supermerkato!

I was impressed with your fluency in speaking Esperanto, - it is not often I hear it spoken, but it is clearly something that can be spoken just as any other language. And the cooking book for vegetarian Esperantists shows that it is a relevant medium for other things than discussions about Zamenhof and the language itself.

Mi gajegis vidi vian rakonton! G'i estis sufic'e facila kompreni por mi (mi (re-)eklernis Esperanton la dekokan de januaro).

After just a couple of months of study, I find it somewhat fascinating how much Esperanto I can understand without having to concentrate that much. Keep them clips coming...

This is another example of how people are able to master English and I have so much trouble with other languages (like German:D)

Great job! I'm really impressed!

I love hearing German, I really wish it was my native language :/

I am pleased to read that people have fun with my newest videos. It was just by coincidence that we bought a tin of "fasulye" (= "fazeoloj" in Esperanto) to put in the soup just one day before we recorded the two videos. I was asked by Jiwon to make a video in German. But I still haven't made a video in Spanish, Italian or French. This is what I would like to do in the coming months, as far as my Dutch friend is available to do the recordings with me.

TELEVISION IQ-TEST

I remember that there was a huge discussion on HTLAL about how far polyglottery is related with the IQ of a person.

Tonight there was a TV programm on RTL2 where I could take an IQ-test. I regard the result as reliable, because it is very similar to that of an official IQ-test I had to take some years ago. To answer the questions there was a strict time-limit given.

There were 4 categories: Language - Logic - Arithmetic - Memory

T = true, F = false

1. Language: 11 T, 1 F = 11 points
2. Logic: 8 T, 10 F = 8 points
3. Arithmetic: 7 T, 6 F = 7 points
4. Memory: 9 T, 5 F = 9 points (mainly the short-term memory was measured)

This is a very typical result for me that I have relatively weak scores in the mathematical categories. My language scores are significantly better than those of the other categories, which is also very typical for test scores I achieve.

As a result I have quite a normal general IQ with extra good results in the language category. My example proves that you don't need an IQ of 130 to become a polyglot(!)

I am happy that you like my video. I know thay many people have never heard Esperanto, therefore it's good to speak the language on You Tube.
