Let's just fix a date to Skype once the challenge actually starts (ie January) and see who shows up?

Julebrus, marsipan and "Tre nøtter til Askepott." I suppose it's nice to be home for Christmas.
Once I get my internet connection in proper working order, I will try to figure out this Skype thing. Is it free? Hmmm... It could be useful for talking with my family in the US too, if I ever manage to get it working.

Skype is free. You can get an idea at skype.com of course, but multi-audio call is free.
Here's my TAC 2013 log if anyone's interested. I'll try to better my Japanese sufficiently to be able to take part in the Skype sessions. :)

I used Skype to call my parents and brothers from England and it worked brilliantly -
it's free as long as both use their Skype accounts.
Haven't had marsipan yet, and I'm ashamed to admit that I've never watched all of "Tre
nøtter til Askepott". Perhaps I'll get around to it this year.
And you can use Skype with a shitty internet connection; you will just sound like a
robot to us (lo-fi signal from you), that's all.

I doubt I would sound like anything since my connection frequently disappears all together. Some days it literally works for only seconds at a time. I usually give up on those days.

Only one person added me on Skype after I posted here about it on Friday. :p
So my attempt at organising this stuff crashed and burned.
Anyone else with any good ideas??

I have an advice: Ikke la det beste bli det godes fiende :-)
I think most of the team Sputnik's members were added on Skype the 10 last minutes before we started talking the first time. Be prepared for this to be a little patchy in the beginning, with internet trouble, shy participants who feel their mouths are filled with cotton and stones when they attempt to speak a foreign language, and total panic attacks (been there, done all of that :-). It can still end up being a success!

Hey guys!
Team MIR mentioned something about having a team joke. We can't let them outdo us!

How about this guy as our mascot? He’s from the manga Urusei Yatsura うる星やつら
His name is written with these kanji:
錯乱坊 (さくらんぼう) (Sakuranbou) meaning deranged monk, which is a good description of him.
The pronunciation of those kanji is the same as 桜ん坊 meaning cherry (the fruit).
However, the pronunciation of his name is always written in katakana next it. It is pronounced チェリー (Cherry).
It’s one of those triple layer kanji puns that some Japanese writers like to make.
