You don't need to be at a certain level, you just need a good level of motivation :) It is my first TAC but from what I know, it is enough to read logs of your teammates, report about your own progress and try to do your best. :) By the way, I've been learning Swedish for 2,5 months, so I am a complete beginner just like you. 1 person has voted this message useful | ||||||

Hi Everybody!
I'll probably pop by now and then too. It's fun watching people study a language I've studied myself. It's also interesting that Norwegian of all the Scandinavian languages seems to be the most popular. Jonhello: You don't even have to know "ja" and "nei" to join. Starting from zero is perfectly fine. TAC isn't a class where everyone learns the same things at the same time. We each learn in our own style and at our own pace. The purpose of TAC is to motivate you to learn more and not to give up. And of course you can get a lot of tips when you are studying with others at various levels. Go ahead. At the moment I don't know what kind of studying I will do, but I have a dusty copy of Linguaphone Norwegian and a recent publication called "Tio lektioner i danska" (Helle Karman). That's a start.

We have the exact same thing in Norwegian, and it sort of is like saying both yes and no at the same time. I guess "not really" would cover it in Norwegian as well. 1 person has voted this message useful | ||||||

If you guys don't mind, I thought I could enlist as an unofficial groupie. I've been flirting with Norwegian and Danish recently, and I'm hardly done with Swedish either, so I figure this is a good team to keep tabs on.
In terms of concrete goals for the upcoming year, I'm hoping to get my Danish listening comprehension on par with Norwegian, to do some comparative grammar study of Danish and Norwegian both, and finally to improve my Swedish accent and strengthen my vocabulary. A rather long list, considering that I'm supposed to focus on German. :-) Edit: Mwahahah! I just picked up a package at the post office. Harry Potter og Fønixordenen, in paper and audio—that's 30 h of comprehensible input, friends. This is going to be the best Christmas ever. So, i'm in!! Norwegian was the language that brought me into language learning, and now that I finally have the time to study it, I'm going to set ambitious goals. I need to know how other students are learning and so the team will be of great help.
