Hey Sean,

I'd agree with the people who say not to sweat it too much. When learning languages, you have to experiment a bit and see what methods work for you. Over time, you figure out what produces the results you want - and those results can be different for everyone.

With the grammatical genders, I mess up in Norwegian all the time, and habitually say some incorrectly; your friends will correct you, so it's not a big deal. You'll eventually get tired of being corrected and fix it yourself :) And, over time, you'll just get a feeling for what goes where. This happens to me a lot in Spanish; it's gotten to the point where I just know how things work in it without remembering where I learned it or why it's like that. The sentence just doesn't feel complete if I'm missing something.

That, I think, is the goal with any language.
