Merry Christmas! メアリクリスマス!
That basketball anime you mentioned... was it Slam Dunk? Basketball is my favorite sport other than soccer, and I'm wondering if it is any good.
Congrats on posting on Lang-8. You probably find it a struggle to write there like I do.

Thanks for congratulating me. It's terribly hard. And the problem is I don't really put the time into writing when I do that I should. I basically try to write something quick before I go do something else that I really want to do. Like sleep lol.
The Basketball anime I'm watching at the moment is ディア・ボーイズ. Yeah, probably the corniest title for a guy anime ever. I don't know why it's called that. Female author maybe? I'm enjoying it though.

Making grammar flashcards for Yookoso2 chapter 5.. finally doing honorifics. So much hype regarding these things. Wonder how much of a pain it'll be.
*edit*
Right now I'm having fun making the cards with my English translations.. I'm using the book but modifying it a little so I'll know the card is for honorifics...
社長は今電話をかけていらっしゃいます。&nb sp; The company president is now honorably making a phone call.
Somehow I just get a big kick out of picturing someone honorably doing something.

Hehe I find it a pain to remember how to use them on the fly because of a lack of opportunity to practice in real life situations. But once I got better at understanding humble/honorific language it really helped to improve my listening comprehension as it appears quite a bit on TV shows etc. I think the only truly annoying part is knowing when to use お and when to use ご.

Yeah I haven't had amy situation come up where I think honorific
would be needed but then we haven't covered them in class so we'll
see. I'm a bit surprised that you find they helped your general
understanding watching TV shows (anime). Again I thought they
were hardly used heh. We'll see. I started memorizing some
conjugations tonight. Some of it feels like whole new vocabulary. The
difference between go and o seems so easy on the surface.. Just use
go for Chinese words and I for Japanese... But then there's tons of
exceptions heh. Oh well.

Doing review at work on lunch. Man I hate doing the honorifics and
humble reviews. Really have to force myself. There aren't that many
cards so I'm hoping it'll all stick soon.
I'm pretty behind on the reviews for my regular vocabulary. Ironically
I'd like to start another deck with the same vocab to test for drawing
the kanji. Probably not going to happen - not enough time in the day.

Going through my decks and I'm thinking it'll help if I make a kanji sound deck. I was sort of thinking I'd
just learn words whole without specifically testing myself for the sounds but I started doing kanji sounds
for vocab I was studying awhile back and not worked pretty well so I'm giving it another try. I stopped
before because I felt I didn't haven time for it. I'm not in a class at the moment so I have more time I guess
but I think it's good enough that I should squeeze time for it in to the regular vocab. I think it helps learn
the vocab. I know it helps with words if I don't recognize them and there's no furigana... I've had it happen
a few times. I'll sound out the kanji and then be like no way... Damn!
*edit*
I'm aborting this. It's pretty time consuming just to make the deck and I'm looking at kanji like 間 with so many different pronunciations. And I'm getting distracted adding lots of vocab to go with the sounds and well it's just piling on more than I can handle. I'll just sort of see if I can pickup the sounds as I go for now.

Going through my "2nd" vocab deck which is kanji side 1 (the 1st deck I make top priority is blank side 1 only audio). So I don't get to this deck as much as I like. I'm not doing so badly on it but as I go through it I can't help thinking what I always think as I visualize the kana while looking at the kanji. Why? Why? It seems so dumb to make reading and writing so much more difficult than it has to be. Such craziness. Oh well. I don't live in Japan or need it for my job so I don't -have- to learn it. Whatever.
