Hola, Alberto. I have watched a few videos of yours and I do like them. In fact, I appreciate the insights you share in this one, which deals with movies and learning languages while having fun. Since we all live in a world where movies are so important (and this is a bibliophile who states that fact) and since motivation is the fuel for those who want to learn anything, I recommend that post. Keep recording and sharing those videos, Alberto. Your English is pretty good. And that's almost a miracle in a country like ours, where foreign languages have been forgotten or mistreated for so long. Don't you think? montyd's vocabulary technique:
1-Write down foreign words in one side and meaning on the other side (one word if possible) 2-Read aloud the list with a constant rythm: word, meaning, word, meaning... 3-Cover up the translation column and repeat the word-meaning sequence at the same speedl. 4- If you fail some word. repeat the pair (word-meaning) several times and start from the beginning. 5- Cover up the foreign word column and go through the whole process again. 6-If you fail, repeat the pair (word-meaning) several times and start from the begining. * It's very important to repeat aloud and keep a rythm. * You can use words from any book you read, phrasebooks or dictiionaries. * Sometimes I only use the passive step. I learn passive vocabulary faster and I can start with extensive reading. * Review the word lists every now and then. Use some sort of distributed practice. It's important to think in your target language, but more important to move your mouth. If you want to use this technique you should talk aloud or murmur. I think it's much better talking aloud because you will get used to the sounds. Benefits: -Drilling vocabulary. -Drilling grammar structures. -You become aware of the holes in your target language (vocabulary, structure): it focus your attention where you need to improve. -Getting used to open to your voice in the target language. -Developing automaticity. -Develop fluency, spontaneous speech. -You can use it when you don't have native speakers. -It is free. HOW do we use this technique? You can talk as you go along. Talk about anything that comes to your mind. What are you doing right now? What have you just done? What did you do last week? What are you going to do? What are you going to do next week? Prepare different topics: family, holidays, job, hobbies,... You can argue against yourself talking about religions, politics, sports... You can use two main formats: -Monologues: -Fake dialogues: think about situations and you can talk as if you were talking to someone else (receptionist, doctor, manager, ...). You can play both sides. You can imagine an imaginary friend, like children do. Be creative. WHEN can you use this technique? When you are alone in your room or walking or driving your car. If there are people you can murmur, but I think it's less useful. Some people use their mobile phone to fake conversations with imaginary friends in public places. WHO can use this technique? Anyone. Beginners can use it with their limited vocabulary and, if necessary, it's possible to use it in a diglot weave way.
