I put a link to the voting page on my Facebook page yesterday and asked my friends to support him. I then asked my daughters and our house guest to vote, and one of my daughters have also put a link on her Facebook page.
But for those who have not already done that, sharing sounds like a gret idea :-)

I think you are mistaken - Torbyrne would never agree to that.
Here are the quotes taken from the "Best You-tube Polyglot" poll in this forum that lead me to this conclusion.
Torbyrne wrote:
As flattering as this poll may be to some people the result represents what I am against in the language
learning community. Could I please be taken out of this competition? I am only interested in encouraging,
motivating and helping people in their language learning where I can. I have nothing else to prove.
Thank you to everyone who thought I was worth having in such a great list of people and for supporting me in
this too. I do appreciate the kind and supportive gesture in any case and I trust that the sentiment was
positive and genuine. The truth is that my only competition is, and has only ever been, with myself. I think
that all of the people listed here encourage language learning by sharing their passion and I respect them all.
:)

I fully agree with Torbyrne in the point that polyglottery should not be regarded as a competition, we both have discussed
this topic before on Skype.

Richard Simcott has already specifically requested that he be removed from the running from this grand finale you plan. No respect for his
request? You will find that there will be no "winner" here, as whoever gets the most votes will just be embarrassed and frustrated that this
competition took place in the first place.
The "best" polyglot is very likely one who would never associate with or condone such a title. |

A big thank you to everyone who's voted so far. :)
However we still need a lot more votes to knock this "banana man" character off first place who doesn't even seem to say much in his video at all (not alone in 16 languages). Richard is clearly the man for the job but it's votes that count here.
We have a huge number of members on the forum who know about Richard and have at some time or other enjoyed his videos or been inspired by his posts. If even a small proportion of the members here pledge their support by logging into Facebook and clicking on the thumbs up button under his video, we can still make this happen!
MehrsprachICH - Welches Video soll gewinnen?
@Wulfar
I completely agree with Richard's sentiments about the polyglot poll on HTLAL a while back. However this is a competition that Richard has actually entered and would like to win, so that he can go to the conference and talk to other language enthusiasts. Here's an extract from his website:
"This competition highlights some great stories of language learning, including my own. I encourage you to take a look at the videos and enjoy all of the stories in the competition. The winner will get to talk about their story at the international Poliglotti4.eu conference in Italy (Last year’s conference took place in Madrid).
Your opinion counts!
You decide the winner. You can vote on the Goethe Institute’s MehrsprachIch Facebook page for your favourite! :)"

I really hate Facebook. Can someone provide a non-facebook link to the banana man video? Is it this one?

No, the message is not bad - I just can't imagine what these guys would have to say at
the conference.
Among other videos, I actually enjoyed the one made by Anastasia from Lithuania. Very
well-made, plus she shows both language passion and good language skills as for a person
her age. Her German is actually impressive, especially considering how quickly she's
learned it.

The competiton "MehrsprachICH" is a video - competition, so the qualitiy of the video is the key feature, it's not a polyglottery competition. So people should not compete in who learns more languages than the other. (This is the opinion of Richard and me)
As in this competiton (where I am also a participant, but my video hasn't reached the final round) the video - making plays an important role, it's not certain that Richard will win. From the video-making itself (bringing over the message that learning foreign languages is necessary to make communication possible) I find the banana - video a good one. It only doesn't present any relevant language skills, which would be desirable for a person to have, who is going to speak in public at the Poliglotti EU - conference. Nor does it say HOW these Turkish guys have learned foreign languages.
So the leading video has a good message, but it reveals no information about the process of succesful language learning, the usage of methods, and so on.
