Seán Cannon of Irish folk group The Dubliners speaks five languages fluently.

I suppose the life of a professional musician with the constant travelling does lend itself well to language
learning.

I read that text in the booklet of their "30 Years A' Greying" back in 1992, but it's still impressive. Didn't Ronnnie Drew speak Spanish? At least he taught English in Spain for a while. I've met a couple of Irish musicians who could manage at least one other language than English+Irish (the most recent one spoke a nearly accent-less Swedish).

I don't know how many languages Michael Greilsammer knows but he sings in French and his native Hebrew. This SONG is in both French and Hebrew, so is THIS one.

Gene Simmons of Kiss is fluent in Hungarian, Hebrew and some German. He was born in
Israel and lived there until the age of 8 before emigrating to the U.S. His parents were
Hungarian Jews who also were multilingual. Thus he had good background to become a
polyglot. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hR gea2Bc6V4

In fact there are many famous multilingual musicians who can even speak more than 3
languages fluently. Dalida, Charles Aznavour, Joe Dassin, Neil Sedaka come to mind first.
Most of them have opportunity to travel extensively and sometimes it's important for them
to learn as many languages as possible to reach out to audiences in different countries.

Folk singer Roger Whittaker became very popular in Germany by singing in German. He didn't actually
understand the language, he just sang phonetically. He must have learned to speak now, I would think.

This is a Global Project called "Work Of Art" by Haikaa. There you'll find a video of her singing her song in about 19 languages. She speaks Portuguese, English and Japanese. Some
of you may know her from Benny's video "Skype Me Maybe". More about Haikaa and her music here.
