Hello there, everybody!
I'm Lizzy and I joined the forum as a member a few days ago but only just came across this topic so thought I might as well introduce myself! I come from London, was raised monolingual but haven't considered myself to really be that since the age of about 14 or 15. Languages are my true passion, like everybody else on here I'm sure, and I'm very glad to have found this website and this community! I only wish I had found it maybe three or four years ago when I wasn't studying and had a bit more time on my hands to participate in things like TAC! I'm a languages student specialising in French & Spanish literature and translation at university. I recently moved from Madrid to Paris during my Year Abroad. I consider myself fluent in Spanish and my French has needed a bit of brushing up after 7 months of not speaking it in Spain, but it's also fairly advanced. German is my fourth language, one that means a lot to me as my paternal grandmother is from Berlin but sadly chose not to teach German to her children after she moved to Britain following WWII. I've been studying it for ten years. It's had a few setbacks recently as I'm not studying it at university, but I'm hoping it doesn't slip too far behind!
