Two Norwegian brothers and comedians Ylvis, who run their own talk show in Norway, are currently the
hottest thing on YouTube with " The fox"- or "What does the fox say". They currently have close to 40
million viewings after having had the video out since September 3rd. I have become an instant fan, so I think
at least 20 clics out of those 40 million are mine. :-)
The
Fox
They are however also great comedians, and I am putting in a link to one of their shows here. I have just
watched a few minutes of it, and at minute 12 they have put in a linguistic joke. A guy pretends to be a Dutch
specialist on Dutch culture, and three Swedish-Dutch interpreters are brought in to translate. He does
however not speak a word of Dutch. He speaks a mix of Norwegian, Jibberish, German and mixes in Dutch
sounds. The look of the faces of the three interpreters are priceless, and at one point the elderly lady who
interprets, enthusiastically translates jibberish into Swedish until the interviewer just bends over the table and
laughs uncontrollably. The show is in Norwegian, and it will obviously be funnier for those who understand
some Scandinavian language, but it might be worth it for the rest of you as well. The part where one guy
orders a taxi for himself and his dog, and then proceeds to try to bring a lama into the car had me laughing so
hard I almost fell off the sofa.
Best of Ylvis 2nd attempt
Edit: I think the link works now :-)

Cristin has found her national pride :D
This song is a great irony, showing that nowadays lyrics in music are often useless.
Btw., the disqus link doesn't work.

Song-wise, they won't replace a-ha in my affections, for Norwegian pop-singers, I'm
afraid to say.
I look forward to the comedy video when a working link appears.

The elevator sketch is the best one. Especially the Swedish during the last one.

Do you know how rare it is to have something which is
- extraordinary popular on YouTube
- Norwegian
- appealing to me?
Tonight my youngest daughter turned 14, and while we were preparing dinner we were singing and dancing
along to the song (singing, dancing and cooking is not something I often do simultaneously, and particularly
not with my daughter, but this tune is really catchy :-).

- From Norway
- On you tube
- World Famous
Take on Me official Video
- Can't guarantee that it's appealing to you of course.
I think you should run it past your daughter though. :-)
I heartily approve of singing and dancing with the kids though, whatever your taste.
Cooking as well....? ....hmm....depends....
