my question (and other doubts) all related to making a successful career out of foreign languages not "learning languages"...
all the famous institutes such as Goethe institute (for German) or The French Association (aka alliance francaise, for french) DO allow anyone to write and clear their recognised exams as an EXTERNAL candidate...that is, one who did not took the training by the institute, so this solves the lack of certificates problem, if any.
There are people who begin with a university degree and then embark on a career with languages, and then there are people who, out of sheer motivation, learn by themselves using programs that we all are aware of, top the learning by writing certification exams by above institutes and embark on a career out of languages...
So is there anyone amongst us here, or anyone personally known to anyone of us, who has taken either of these two career paths ?

Time to sell my language haha. If you speak good Mandarin, you can work for the FPI or other information agents of the United States; government. The Americans will pay you very handsomely as Chinese is being viewed by the them as one "strategic language".

I'm completely self-taught in Latin, and I've been teaching it full-time in a private, college-prep school for nearly 5 years now.

I emailed him and we had a chat comparing our methods, overall I think
the guy is exactly right on when it comes to streamlined L2 acquisition. I
threw a shoutout to the forum, hopefully he'll come over sometime and
share.
