Anyone else who's a fan of learning languages also a fan of Asterix?
Was at a bookstore in Bangkok and a Dutch guy in front of me was asking for a Thai Asterix book. I asked him if he could speak Thai and he just said he would like to and had a collection of Asterix books in 30 languages.
I have English, French, Spanish, Catalan, Russian, Dutch, Gaelic, German, Czech, Italian and Swedish versions myself!
Anyone else collect different language versions of Asterix books?
Even found a site dedicated to it!

Yes!!! I love Asterix... I collect them, but only in French, though.
You reminded me it might be useful to purchase some in other languages too...

Those are fun, too; I have a couple of DVDs in German, as well... There's an option on the DVD to watch the movie in a German dialect -- one per DVD...

I've got a few of them in Latin, sitting next to Donald Duck, also in Latin. They seem to get on fine. Because of the common language I suppose.

Yeah, I love Asterix, though I have a collection only in Swedish, and not too many as of now. Tintin is another favourite, but I should learn French in the future so I could read the "real" versions, because I sometimes sense that some of the puns and word plays are a bit lost in translation, unfortunately.
Slightly off-topic here, but I must say that there are many great Franco-Belgian comics out there. One of the more recent ones I've discovered is Thorgal, which I really enjoy. Belgians and vikings is a combination that can do no wrong.

Intend to eventually own all Asterix and Tintin in all the languages I can read. Right now, my collection consists of random volumes in French, Japanese, and German.
