(I'm posting here to get more attention :))

So, I think it is about time there's a Russian book club, preferably starting in July! Anya suggested the author Teffi in the general Book Club thread, and since this is Russian and lib.ru is our best friend, no one has to worry about finding the texts (--> http://az.lib.ru/t/teffi/).

From Wikipedia: "Nadezhda Teffi, known simply as Teffi, (Russian: Надежда Тэффи) (21 May [O.S. 9 May] 1872, Saint Petersburg - 6 October 1952, Paris) was a Russian humorist writer. Teffi is a pseudonym. Her real name was Nadezhda Aleksandrovna Lokhvitskaya (Надежда Александровна Лохвицкая) after her marriage Nadezhda Alexandrovna Buchinskaya (Бучинская). Together with Arkady Timofeevich Averchenko she was one of the most prominent authors of the Satiricon magazine."

Teffi has written short stories, so we could choose a certain number of those and number them, and then people just read as much as they can/want, starting with number 1. No big commitments for those who aren't that very advanced and if you don't like her writing style, then you didn't waste a lot of time.

Anyone interested?

Good choice of book!

I would be interested but you are too darn good for me! This is outside of my current skill level. (which is not improved by me writing too many posts on this site...)

Maybe this time next year! :-)

This is a great idea. Like Cordelia, my level isn't that high but I suppose it doesn't hurt to try.

I'm definitely in. I had never heard of Teffi before, but I just perused through some of her short stories and her writing style is indeed interesting. I hope we get a bunch of seriously interested people!

I can give it a try, but I am somewhat skeptical about this author. I guess I will read it, but I reserve the right to withdraw if it turns out to be a girly read :)

So will there be some discussions involved? Like, discussions of the actual story as well as talking about some tricky constructions/idioms that may come up? I think that would be cool.

I'm glad some people actually joined :)
Sure, discussion can be about whatever we want, there are no rules. I hadn't even thought about it being about the language (but that is of course a possibility now since we have some Russian speakers among us and not just learners); in the other book clubs, it has been about the story, the writing style, the characters, etc.

With some apprehension, I'll give it a shot.
