Moving right along. DuoLingo is addicting which is good for motivation and perseverance.
I have tested out of Spanish Basic 2 with 348 skill points and have now translated 21
Spanish sentences from the Internet. The last three sentences came from this web page:
Papa

More study completed. I am half way through Food in Spanish Basic 2. I now have 418 skill
points and have translated 27 sentences from the Internet. The last three were about
tasty Italian cheese.
There isn't much information filtering out of Duolingo. No indication about how many
people are signed up, how many are doing Spanish and German, and how much progress has
now been made in translating sentences. Duolingo doesn't seem to be very "transparent".
Maybe they are too busy developing course material. So far, I think the Spanish course is
good, and does reading, writing, listening and speaking. There are regular built-in
reviews (something like SRS) and I seem to be remembering almost everything.

About two weeks. I requested it in early December.

I am now in Spanish level 3 and I'm working on Animals. I have 506 skill points and have translated 33 sentences from the Internet. The last sentences were from this web page:
http://www.xatakaciencia.com/biologia/singularidades-extraor dinarias-de-animales-ordinarios-viii-el-burro
I wish there was a Duolingo blog. I seem to be working in a vacuum. No response from Duolingo to my feedback and questions. But I am learning Spanish. And yes, I am providing very good English translations of Spanish sentences from web pages, which of course is the main objective of Duolingo.
I have just recently started Duolingo German. It also seems to be well organised with excellent audio and a good variety of reading, writing, listening and speaking.
I am disappointed that Duolingo has not invited more participants at this point. I think there is only one other member of HTLAL who has been able to participate.

It's interesting, but I think that the learner should only translate to his native language, unless if he's very advanced. I would like to use it to review English vocabulary and it'd be easier to translate from English to my native language.

That is the way DuoLingo works.

I now have 566 skill points in Spanish Level 3 and have translated 42 Spanish sentences from the Internet into English. In German, I am still at Basic 1 with 40 skill points and have translated 3 Internet sentences into English. I still have had no feedback from DuoLingo on my feedback and questions. But I am learning steadily.
