I'm frustrated by the fact that Amazon's German branch audible.de just told me that I can't buy audiobooks that are in German with a Canadian address but that I can buy the Eng. ones. I've had it. I want to learn how to pronounce the words as I read but now I can never do that. Sigh.
How does everyone go about buying quality downloadable German audiobooks without a German address? Is there a sneaky way? Alas, I have no German pals!
I'm looking for German audiobooks of Der Kleine Prinz, Die Weisse Rose, Hemingway, Kafka, the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo trilogy...

audible.de seems to be less strict. See this older post for details.
Current rebate codes can be found here and elsewhere on the Internet. (Clicking on a rebate link will take you to the new member signup web page.)

Audible's customer rep just emailed me today about not being able to download most German content from a Canadian address so what do you mean they are less atrict? Thanks for the free books but I still need to use a credit card to pay for new books.

you can find them on amazon.com here or if you have the ISBN from the German site you can search with that.
If nothing works, I'm sure someone living in Germany that travel to the US can help ...

Yes, but I'm looking for downloadable audiobooks as Canada customs always has hefty fees for imports.

Another option is to stick to gratis audiobooks, such as those at theateraufcd.

Either the person from the German branch is mistaken or this is a Canadian thing. I live in Australia and have an Amazon.com account (Audible is a subsidiary of Amazon) and just signed up with Audible.de and have already downloaded my first German book (Das Lied von Eis und Feuer) without any problem. I'm listening to it on my iPod as I'm typing this...
