Welcome back Josquin. I know how you feel about Ireland, I have more Irish friends than you'd believe.
I always meant to ask if you like music :)

Okay, today is a religious holiday (Corpus Christi) in my German federal state, so I had the whole day to myself. I used it for studying languages, because I realized that a lot of my former unhappiness didn't result from studying too much but rather from the fact that I don't like my place of residence and my work any more.
I have been living here for eight years and it's time to find something different. Most people I knew have already moved away and I'm more or less left over. I'm taking steps to find another job and to move to another city in the near future. I think that would solve most of my problems, because I really need a change. In the long term, I'd also be happy to live abroad for a while.
Well, be that as it may. As long as I'm still living in Tübingen and working for my publisher, there's little I can do. So studying languages isn't the worst pastime at all. I managed to study Gaelic and Japanese and I even read a few pages of Russian. Yesterday, I also did a little bit of Irish. Here's a short overview of where I am right now:
Gaelic: Unit 21 in Lehrbuch der schottisch-gälischen Sprache
Japanese: Unit 6 in Colloquial Japanese
Russian: Text 6 in Ну что, поехали?
Irish: Unit 2 in Learning Irish
I also rewrote my travelogue in Gaelic. I didn't translate the English text but wrote it in Gaelic from scratch. It was a good opportunity to use my Gaelic, because I can read it quite well by now, but understanding spoken Gaelic and even producing it myself is far more difficult. Reporting about my trip was a good exercise for the preterite tense, but I had to look up tons of words and grammar points nevertheless. Well, here it is:
Mo Sheachdain ann an Èirinn – ann an Gàidhlig
An-diugh innisidh mi dhuibh dè thachair rè mo sheachdaine ann an Èirinn. An toiseach bha mi ann an Baile Atha Cliath. Bha e glè intinneach. Choisich mi mun cuairt a' bhaile agus chunnaich mi mòran taighean snog. Bu toigh leam an Caisteal Atha Cliath agus an Àrd-Eaglais Naomh Pàdraig. Tha iad dà thaigh fìor bhrèagha. Cheannaich mi dà leabhar mu dheidhinn eachdraidhe na h-Èireann agus cànain Ghàidhlig na h-Èireann. A thuilleadh air an sin cheannaich mi trì meanbh-chlàran le ceòl dualchasach. Is toigh leam ceòl Èireannach gu mòr.
An uair sin chaidh mi a Chorcaigh air an trèana. Ràinig mi Corcaigh feasgar Di-Haoine timcheall air leth-uair an dèidh sia uairean. 'S e baile glè shnog a th' ann an Corcaigh, ach tha i beag cuideachd. Bha mi aig an taigh-seinnse le caraid agus bha e uabhasach math. Bha iad a' cluich ciùil thradaiseanta agus bha iad a' dannsadh. Bu toigh leam an leann Èireannach cuideachd, gu h-àraid Guinness. Cheannaich mi ceap de chlò Èireannach ann an Corcaigh agus chunnaic mi mòran rudan intinneach.
Ach gu mì-fhortanach bha tubaist ann cuideachd. Thadhail sinn air a' chladach faisg air Corcaigh agus choisich sinn air an tràigh. Dhìrich sinn creag, thuit mi agus bhuail mi mo cheann. Gu fortanach cha robh dad briste, ach bha sin pianail. Thàinig an t-eagal orm, oir cha robh fhios agam an robh mo cheann gu leòr. Chaidh sinn don ospadal ma-tha. Bha an nurs chuideachail, ach feumaidh sinn feitheamh ceithir uairean. Mar sin chan fhaca mi an dotair, oir bha e cho fadalach mar-thà agus dh'fhalbh sinn.
Gu fortanach bha mi gu leòr an ath latha agus ghabh mi an trèana a Bhaile Atha Cliath a-rithist. Ghabh mi cuairt agus thadhail mi air Faiche Stiabhna agus an t-Àrd-Eaglais Naomh Pàdraig. Bu toigh leam Baile Atha Cliath gu mòr agus bha mir airson fantainn. Ach Di-Màirt dh'fheumainn falbh. Ghabh mi an t-itealean gu Frankfurt agus meadhan-oidhche bha mi air ais aig an taigh.

Velkominn tílbaka, það er mjög gamant að sjá þig hér aftur.
(My Icelandic is still terrible. Not something I have worked with too much).
I have the same problem as you do, but then in Breton. I bought the Breton translation of
Harry Potter to help me with this.

Thanks, tarvos. I don't know if reading a book in Gaelic would help me, because reading already is my strong suit. Well, perhaps L-R might be good. Of course, the best practice would be going to the Outer Hebrides (or in your case Brittany), but that won't happen so soon, maybe next year.
By the way, "gaman" is a noun (just as English "fun"), so there's no neuter -t needed. Other than that, you're Icelandic is already good. Keep going!

Yeah, for listening I would basically have to have Radio Breizh on repeat. But I don´t
want to forget my knowledge of the written language, and I have an English translation
(and my brother has a Dutch one) to check the Breton against. So I will read that at some
point, although it's not on my goals for June (which basically concern improving Romanian
and Hebrew and working sideways on Icelandic).
