It's about time I did a formal introduction:
I'm a college student (hoping to eventually take a master's in Speech language Pathology), recently graduated. I've never traveled to a foreign country, (other than Canada), and have had trouble being motivated with languages, even though I claim I am interested in them. I'll attribute it to being young and more interested in things less academic and brain boosting then learning...
My mindset changed completely this past month once I got a job. I do almost nothing for 6 hours a day at work, and have six hours a day almost wasted. So I filled my iPod full of German and here I am posting and learning again. I'll post more this time around and actually learn, I've spent more time learning these past two weeks than six months before this job! I can use encouragement and I really do desire to become fluent in German before May, so I hope I can pull this off and finally learn a second language!
I enjoy browsing the forum, and reading some of the more 'famous' members stories (ellasevia, iverson, sprachprofi, caintaer, solfrid_cristen), and their learning logs inspires me to achieve a better standard.

Hi, welcome to the forum.
I find it quite funny that your job seems to be a completely wasted time. And sad at the
same moment. Hopefully, German studies will change it. :-)

Yes, I hope can get a better job soon! However in this economic climate I'm very thankful to at least have a job. And with all of this study time available it would be a shame to waste it : )

Do you mind me asking what job you do?
Oh, and a belated welcome to the forum.

I don't mind answering at all, I work at the bottom level of the IT department for a local business, I am busy about 2/3 of the day and the other 1/3 is pretty much me sitting in a chair watching everything. I bring my Assimil book and I look through the past days lessons while listening to German internet radio on Pandora while on my downtime.
