Hello :). I have been active on this forum for a while now, so I thought I should introduce myself. My name is Ariënne, but Jenne is easier for most non-Dutch people, so that is my nickname. I am 24 years old. I have just started a Master's programme in English Linguistics at university and would like to start a PhD next year. It is my ambition to become a philologist/historical linguist.
As far as I know, I have always loved languages. I made them up when I was younger and now I just love learning them as a hobby. I have learned English and some French and German. I have been learning Norwegian for several months now and my next language will probably be French, as I am not satisfied with my basic fluency in the language. Otherwise, I might choose German. Other things I do in my spare time are singing, running, and reading.

Welkom!

What's your reason for choosing Norweigan, out of interest?

Thank you.

My reason is very simple: I love the language and the country :). Initially, I chose it because I wanted to learn a language that not many Dutch people knew and one of my friends, who is learning Swedish, said I should study the language as well. But out of the Scandinavian languages, I liked Norwegian best. I suppose I continued learning Norwegian because I developed a fondness for the phonology and Norway. I visited the country two years ago and it was an incredible experience.
