Hello everybody,
My name is Alexandre. I am a 21 years-old lad who lives in Limoges, a city in the South of France (Limousin).
Among my passions, I love the universe of Fantasy. I am fond of Fantasy books (Tolkien, Lewis, Eddings, Gaiman, Thomas Burnett Swann, Robert Holdstock), Fantasy movies (Dark Crystal, animated movies...) and Fantasy music (David Arkenstone, Joe Hisaishi...)
My second passion is metal music. My favorites kinds of metal are Pagan Metal, Power Metal and Symphonic Metal. However, I also like nice bands of Atmospheric Black Metal (such like Summoning or Angmar).
And my third passion is, of course, languages. Languages are the key to understand better other cultures and mentalities. I would like to travel when I will be wealthier.
I am a native speaker of French (I am proud of my language and its heritage) and I have fluent level in English (at least when it comes to writing, even if I consider my accent is neutral in English).
At school and university, I have learned:
-German: I can understand simple phrases. However, I have some problems concerning the genders and the vocabulary. German is not well taught here in France. Now, I am looking for Skype-pals.
-Italian: I am more at ease with this language, certainly because it is a sister language of French. Nevertheless, I have a pitiful accent in this language and I use a lot of false friends. But learning Italian remains very fun.
As an autodidact, I am learning:
-Spanish: one of the most important languages. I am interested in their cultures and it would be a "plus-value" on my CV.
-Dutch: this language is unfairly judged but I consider it can be melodious in folk songs. I am pretty sure that learning Dutch can help me to improve both my English and my German.
On my hit list, I have:
-Portuguese: I love the sonorities of this language and Brazil and Portugal are on my list of the countries I would like to visit.
-Danish: I kinda like the accent in Danish and I would like to learn a Scandinavian language. Danish is not the easiest Scandinavian language but the deal pleases me a lot.
Of course, I love the sonorities of other languages: Swedish in songs, Hebrew (sweeter and more mysterious than Arabic), Japanese (Princess Mononoke is my favorite movie), Hungarian and Finnish (very poetic languages), Russian etc...
So, if I am successful in German, Italian, Dutch, Spanish etc....I will be eager to begin my learning of these languages.
To learn a language and its basis, I read newspapers on the Internet, look for Erasmus students in my city, listen to music (I love re-watching the Disney's of my childhood in foreign languages), buy conversation books (recently, I have bought a conversion book of Romanian in order to have an idea of this language)...
I would be pleased to meet people who have the same passion of languages.
Have a nice day,
Alexandre
