Congrats, Rem! Sounds nerve-wracking... and like something to be proud of. How was the New Year's event? What was the program like?

It was good fun. Once we’d finished our bit we could relax and watch the other acts.
There was quite a wide range of performers (singers, musicians, dancers, comedians and
martial arts displays etc).
I missed out on some of it due to my limited ability in Mandarin. I simply couldn't
understand some of the acts. However; I understood far more than I thought I would
under the circumstances, so I guess I can't complain at this early stage in my
studies. :)
There were a few hiccups and technical hitches on the day which was a bit of a pain
(sound/mic problems especially), but it was still an enjoyable event imo.

I confirmed this morning that I can recite 송지은의 쳐다보지마 without a problem, at speed
no less, so the Korean part of my challenge is definitely done. I still have some gaps in
recall with my Japanese challenge (chorus 1 of SKE48の強き者よ) so I'll need to focus on
that one more intensively this week to complete it.

Btw, i've decided to officially start studying Korean and stumbled across a great resource a few days ago:
http://www.howtostudykorean.com/
It's written by an HTLAL member (though i don't think they stop by very often) and currently has over a 100 lessons. Each lesson is HUGE and includes a big vocab list (most seem to be around 40-50 words) which has been uploaded, with audio, to Memrise. I'm really impressed by the amount of time and effort spent on it. On top of that, many of the lessons have been translated into other languages (mostly Spanish and Russian, from what i've seen).
Searching Google i see kraemder's used the site before, but apart from Jumpman Jr/Will's posts, there doesn't seem to be much other mention out there. I'm still very much a beginner so i can't really comment on how far it'll take you, but having done the first three lessons i have a lot of faith in it. I'm hoping it lives up to the motto: "Everything you need. Everything." At the very least, i'll have a great list of common vocabulary (Will mentions there being some 9,000 words spread throughout the units).

I'm planning to learn the original opening theme from 進撃の巨人 (Attack on Titan) but
I
wasn't planning on actually performing it ... I'm assuming that's optional?

Yep. It's just being able to actively recall it yourself. No need for performing or
anything.
I love the theme song for Shingeki no Kyojin, btw. I would've put it down for the
challenge myself, but I already know it by heart from listening to it so many times :)
Good choice!

Thank you, Crush for your useful suggestions! Glad to see you here again. I'm always
especially happy to see more Korean resources!
Apologies, teammates, for being away the past couple of weeks, really crazy at work.
It's gotten better, though.
It's so interesting seeing all of your song choices! And more people are participating
this month, too :D
I finished my song for this challenge, 春風 by flumpool, and I'm thinking of adding in
another one for Fujita Maiko 藤田麻衣子, or another song from one of the anime credits
that I've recently been listening to. I don't know how realistic it is, though, since
February's almost over.
Also, welcome to the team, misskj! I've added your log :)

I'm beginning to wish I'd chosen something slower :-)
