Actually I thought "мука" in Russian was feminine and singular... But Russian has a number of 'singularia tantum', i.e. singular words that refer to a heap of small things. One category that might be worth considering are fruits and vegetables. In Danish you buy 'kartofler' in plural (as 'potatoes' in English), in Russian you apparently buy 'катрофель' in singular. We do have such words in the Nordic languages, but the distribution is not the same as in Russian. For example 'cream' is as singular as can be in Danish: 'fløde', but plural in Russian: 'сливки'. The same applies to ink: "blæk" in Danish, 'чернила' in Russian.

Yes, that was the point.. It has a plural "муки"
While in Swedish it has no plural.
And there are lots of words like that in Swedish.
I am trying to learn the Russian plural and while I do that, I "discover" that it has no plural in Swedish, however in English, most of the time, it does...
So my conclusion is that Swedish (and probably all Scandi) langs hoave an unusually high proportion of words that have no plural.
