Hi,

While I was looking around I stumbled across some original Grimms fairytales.

I've always liked the extra part in Froschkönig, "der eiserne Heinrich". That was the loyal servant of the prince. When his master was turned into a frog, Heinrich had to place three iron straps around his heart to keep it from breaking. In the end, as the prince was riding with the princess back to his castle, he heard a loud -crack- and thought that the carriage was falling apart. Henrich said that it was not the carriage, but the three iron straps being released from his heart since his master had been freed from the spell. That part is left out of some of the newer versions of the story.

Edit: Zeno.org also has other complete texts --in German-- from various authors Andersen, Balzac, Brentano, Chamisso, Cervantes, Dante, Dostoevskij, Droste-Hülshoff, Fontane, Goethe, Grabbe, Heine, Kafka, Klabund, Kleist, Lessing, May, Novalis, Poe, Ringelnatz, Shakespeare, Schiller, Storm, Tucholsky, Zola.
