@njblue, that's a quite broad question. I could give you a quite long answer detailing my musical preferences, but I don't think that would be very useful to you. I listen to mostly Brazilian music in Portuguese. I also like some African and Iberian music as well. Music in Portuguese has many genres, including rock, jazz, fado, axe, forro, bossanova, mpb, etc. Without knowing which genres you're interested in, I'd be wasting my time giving you my recommendations. Here goes some time wasting:
I like MPB, Bossanova and Jazz mostly: Aline Muniz: mpb; Fabiana Passoni: jazz; Gilberto Gil: bossanova-mpb; Leila Pinheiro: mpb; Oquestrada: hard to pin down; Hotel Bossanova: Portuguese singer, singing Brazilian bossanova, living in Germany; 4 Loas- mpb; Cris Delanno: mpb; Bossacucanova: updated bossa and mpb.
I could go on and on.

Thank you Iguanamon, I like all kinds of music, I like rock, I have some music in that language. Most of my music is
from Brazil like NxZero but I also like Mariza and Susana Felix, they both have good music.

Rock in Brazil seems to be downfalling nowadays. Th most famous band here is called "Restart", and it's the gay version of Justin Bieber, with guitars.
If you want something good, you can search for old stuff like "Raimundos", "LegiĆ£o Urbana", "Skank", "Jota Quest", "Capital Inicial", "CPM22", "Mamonas Assassinas"...for starters =)
There are a few fine new bands, like "Jay Vaquer" (awesome), "Vanguart", "ForFun"...

Ok, it might be a stupid song (I don't know Portugese at all, so I only typed the liyrics into the Google Translate, and found one - but a really bad one - transaltion somewhere on a web), but I came into my head and won't go away. If any of you is a football fan and likes Real Madrid, and saw the Ronaldo-Marcelo celebration after goal, this is the song that they are dancing to, while celebrating. Ok, here you go: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2wz7Mh8trLA (I don't know how to make this link working, so I'm afraid you'd have to copy and paste it into your web browser)
