Hello everyone!
I've been studying Dutch for about 5/6 months now, and I've been trying always to complement my studies by watching Dutch movies.
So far, I've watched:
- Komt Een Vrouw Bij de Dokter - AMAZING film! I think I'd never cried so much before in my life while watching a movie (haha). After watching it, I bought and read the whole book in 2 days (and cried myself out again). In my opinion, it's the best Dutch movie among those I've watched. Carice Van Houten is just breathtaking.
- Zwartboek - The movie is in Dutch, German and English, about a woman who worked as a spy during WWII, helping the Dutch resistance. Very good.
- De Gelukkige Huisvrouw - Again Carice Van Houten, proving she's one of the best actresses in the world. Great performance, great movie.
- Turks Fruits - This one is older, and shows us Rutger Hauer really young! My Dutch friend said this movie was really controversial and polemic by the time it was released.
- Het Leven Uit Een Dag - The plot is really interesting, about a parallel world where people live just for 1 day. The movie is not that great, maybe because of the book. Still watchable.
That's my contribution! =) I hope you guys like it!
And pleeeease, recommend me some more (good) Dutch movies! Cinema is another passion of mine, and I'll love to conciliate both of them =)
Dank jullie wel, en tot ziens!

My favorite Dutch film is De vierde man by Paul Verhoeven.

I agree Turks Fruit is amazing. There are are also a ton of Belgische films.
I recommend "De Hel van Tanger". Great movie.
Also, you have to watch the classic: "Soldaat van Oranje". A young Rutger in that one
too.
Spoorlos is good too. It's the original before Kiefer Sutherland/Sandra Bullock remake.
Curiously, it's a mix of Dutch and French.

Turks Fruit indeed was really polemic because it is based on a novel by Jan Wolkers,
which included a lot of more explicit material that wasn't common at the time.
Since then, not so much.
