As a person without a spouse or children, I have the time to devote to my main interests, music and language, which are very time-consuming activities. They are not without rewards, and I am sure others on this forum would agree with that fact. |

I am in the same situation and I also see the advantages of such a way of life!

That's the reason I decided to start practically all the languages I want while I'm still young. I have the rest of my life for reaching perfection:)
Though I wasn't thinking specifically about kids but also about a future job/career. It would also nice to have at least some skills by the time I'm independent enough to travel on my own wherever I want (mostly Europe). Nowadays I travel with family members and they prefer visiting like two cities per week or so.
I'm 21 btw.

I personally have never really been interested in having children, and although I still have plenty of time to change my mind (I'm only 26), I can see myself going through life childless. At this point it's hard to imagine myself not doing what I'm doing, learning languages and traveling!

That's what I said to my husband the first time we met too when I was 33, and within months we were
married and planning to have children. My colleague said the same when she was 40, and by the time she
was 44 she had three sons.
One of my aunts gave birth at 55, so even for women, life may take an unexpected turn quite late in life. My
sister has stayed single and there are days I really envy her the freedom and the peace she has. Whenever
I visit her I am so tired that I pass out on her couch, and the thought of having a nap in the afternoon on a
regular basis like she does, sounds like heaven.

It's when people say things like this that I think, "there's no way I'm ever having children!"
