He already admitted on YouTube that he just put things through Google Translate and read them off the screen. He also stalked several women on Youtube to the point they had to reach out to the community and even contact his parents.
Later, on Unilang (before he got drummed out of that community for creating multiple aliases which he called his "multiple personalities"), he posted long paragraphs in dozens of languages, asking people to correct his "mistakes". Unfortunately, each passage was just something he typed in English and put through Google (he would include the English version in his posts and when you put the English through Google, the FL output was identical to his translation.) Later, when people started accusing him of this, he started making random changes to the Google output in an attempt to mask his deception. He would write scathing e-mails to the moderators, claim that you did not understand what it was like to be autistic, such that anyone who dared criticize him would see their post deleted, or worse, their account suspended. Even though some naive people would, apparently, spend hours correcting his (Google's) language mistakes, he never really learned anything and continued to make the same (Google's) errors. It was though he was just after the praise (Your Burmese is really good. Keep up the good work). No one seemed to question how he was able to type in all these different scripts and alphabets. In a Latvian thread (a language he claimed to know) on this same site, someone asked him to translate a short sentence like "I see the white lion" with the correct grammatical endings, giving him the appropriate paradigm. After over 20 attempts, he was unable to correctly translate this phrase. In other words, he could mimic others, but was not capable of learning a grammatical rule and applying it. He then gave up, stating that he "learns" by just posting sentences and having people correct them. He recently deleted all of his messages on that site and created several new "identities" so that these "people" could come to his defense. It seems that, at least for now, he is concentrating on his music, equally as bad if not worse, but of course the current Zeitgeist is to not tell people the truth, but that everyone is great and awesome! I believe that the sum total of his language knowledge amounts to a few random words and phrases in several languages that he strings together incoherently in the hope that a native speaker will somehow find meaning from the jumble. Personally, I find him amusing, but he has no language learning ability and should not be part of any serious discussion on polyglottery. Sometimes the truth hurts. This video was perhaps his fourth version. He was told each time that "dese" was pronounced "diese" and that Buch was neuter, so it should therefore be "dieses". Why would you even repeat that kind of crap here? Cesare doesn't get a lot of love around here, and with reason, but that video is just mean-spirited. It would be nice to think we're better than the sophomoric behavior in your link. R. == 6 persons have voted this message useful | |||
