I began to learn languages because of all the international friends I seemed to accumulate. I speak fairly fluent German already, but there is always room for improvement. I'm currently learning Dutch and Afrikaans. Afrikaans, as my Belgian partner says, is basically just Dutch for dummies. Since his native language is Dutch/Flemish I would like to really better my knowledge of Dutch. I think they're all great languages.

If anyone here would like to chat or whatever, I'll gladly help you with English. I really would like to find many Afrikaans speakers because it is one of my favorite languages. I did do a profile in Afrikaans, so constructive criticism is always welcome.

If anyone wants to help me with my Dutch skills, and God knows I need help with my Dutch, I'd really appreciate it.

Welcome! If you have a background in German that should really help you with your Dutch, and Afrikaans (at least in
theory) should be a real piece of cake.

Though I'm still a beginner in Dutch myself, perhaps we can keep track of each other's progress and motivate each
other. I look forward to seeing your posts around the forum.

Welcome to the forum! I'm always happy to find someone else who is interested in Afrikaans.
