Hi,
I've been lurking the forums for a couple of months now and you guys have given me back my motivation to put effort into my languages.
I grew up in Germany and two years ago I moved to Montreal, Canada.
As one of my parents is from quebec, and my parents used to communicate with each other using broken English, I sort of grew up bilingually (german and french) with a little of English. Unfortunately my parents split up when I was about 4 years old and I lost pretty much all of my french (I only remembered how to count to 14), but I believe I have kept the ability to distinguish a wider range of sounds as I usually have little trouble with pronunciation.
I later started learning English in 5 grade and had 3 years of Spanish in high school.
Now I'm studying at an English university here in Montreal and during the summer I work in an all french environment (started working there for the first time only two weeks after moving to Canada, with nothing but my ability to count to 14)
At this moment I'm fluent in both German and English (and Bavarian if you count it) and I'm at a B1-B2 level in Spanish and some unknown level in French (When watching TV, the only reason for not understanding things is my limited vocabulary)
The main reason why I'm becoming active (or at least trying to) is because I've been flirting with Russian for about two month now (learning the script and getting an overview of the pronunciation) and it is now time to start learning it.
I've bought Langenscheidt's Russisch mit System on my recent trip to Germany and the Assimil Russian with Ease should arrive sometime next week.
