My list of songs I would use to recommend a language

Afrikaans: There are many I could list, but right now I'll go with Laurika Rauch's classic Stuur Groete aan Mannetjies Roux

Honorable mention: Koos Kombuis Lisa se Klavier I couldn't resist adding another. Koos Kombuis isn't the strongest singer but this is one of his best-loved songs because it's so poetic.
,
Spanish: I can't pick one, too many songs and too many countries/dialects I could have chosen.

Finnish: Herra Ylppö & Ihmiset Sata Vuotta

Swedish: Säkert! Vi kommer att dö samtidigt. This is the song that made me want to learn Swedish in 2009. I also like the way the words give an excellent example of Swedish humor. This is an uptempo pop song but the English translation of the title is "We are going to die at the same time". Just trust me, this will make perfect sense after you learn Swedish! :)

Polish: Justyna Steczkowska Dzieczyna szamana Every time I hear this I just want to learn more Polish.

Italian: Another difficult language because of so many choices but right now I really love Sottotono Solo Lei ha Quel che Voglio.

Hands down, no contest- in Portuguese I would pick Aguas de Março Tom Jobim e Elis Regina The amazing voice of Elis Regina in duet with the master of Brazilian music, Tom Jobim, is a classic, innately Brazilian, song. @Erikspen of On Learning Brazilian Portuguese has a link to a language lesson based on it: Aguas de Março a lesson. It's a fun way to learn some Portuguese and a bit about, Brazil and life at the same time.

I discovered Antonio Carlos Jobim way back in 1998, and his music has been among my favorites ever since. I'm glad to see a lesson about Aguas de Março. I'll have to try it out!
