Hi everyone!
New to the forum and have been reading like a fiend - such amazing information here!
I am originally from the US but have been living in Mexico for the last 3 years and I plan on traveling again full time starting in August.
I don't consider myself good at learning languages (after 3.5 years in Mexico I still don't consider myself fluent) but I've always tried to learn at least "the nice words" for every country I've visited. My goal is to move beyond just the nice words and actually gain some understanding.
I have a 10-country, 5-language trip coming up and I plan to spend the time between now and then doing the Pimsleur for each language. It's probably not the best solution for really learning a language in-depth but I figure it'll at least give me a base to work off of so I won't be going in blind.
Anyway, this has gotten too long and I have to keep reading but I look forward to becoming an active member.

Welcome to the forum! I hope that you like it there in Mexico and that your stay has been
pleasant. I can try to help you in case you need it, though sometimes I don't know
exactly how to explain things (typical for a native speaker I guess). Best of luck with
your studies and don't give up!
