Well, not a good answer but have modified it to 一点....The other group that I attend now realizes my comprehension is better than they thought.

I'm going through a "flat" period, feeling extremely unmotivated though I'm still listening and echo'ing. The SRS entries are piling up. This pretty much started last week when I took a brief vacation and attended a hobby convention. On the upside, I understand more of my movies. I went to a small group tonight and plan to attend a Mandarin service tomorrow. I ordered "Toy Story 3" and "How To Train Your Dragon" which will probably arrive in about 2 weeks (I like animated movies). Am thinking of not watching these in English at all to force me to work at it (did not see these in the theaters). Am also thinking about tackling some songs.

Grumble, grumble....one of my chat partners showed me a link where I can watch "Toy Story 3" in Mandarin. That site may also have "How To Train Your Dragon".

I have been heavily working on songs, which seems to be getting me out of the doldrums.

A friend has mentioned a church related conference at the end of year which appears to be similar to the one that I attended last winter. This one, like the last, is expected to have several thousand people (last time it was 3,000+). At the last one, I packed in 50+ hours of listening to live Mandarin in about 3 ½ days.   Anyhow, it’s an inexpensive way to do immersion since the fees are very low and it’s local. Soooo, am hoping my schedule will permit me to go which will depend on a project that I will be starting soon.

Caught up on reviewing SRS entries....unsure what is happening but I am having more problems with tones these days. Usually if I go with my gut then the tone is right. But if I think about it then the tone is wrong.

OK, things have gotten worse. I am making a good number of tone mistakes and have been thinking one thing but saying something quite different. I hope this is something like behaviors temporarily falling apart during chaining or else my Mandarin is in big trouble.

Bang head here ==> X. In a blah mood about my Mandarin. About to go out the door to a small group pot luck that I should go to but would rather not due to my mood. Checked the pot luck list and the names of the dishes are almost all in Chinese.....not sure why that should be unexpected.

Started a new project so the routine is changing again....will have to see how much studying I get in. This project is based locally so I should be able to continue attending my small groups.

I was encouraged by someone, from Taiwan, to go hear some talks being given by someone from Beijing. The carrot she dangled was 标准的普通话 (biāozhǔn de pǔtōnghuà). This was a bit of a surprize in that usually my Taiwanese friends and acquaintances teach me Taiwanese norms.
