Well, my goal is to get a more or less "structural overview" of how Breton works. Even if
that means I cannot produce fluent speech for a while (though in the rare event I run
into a Breton speaker I will use it). So my Breton posts are a little technical for the
moment until I have organised my idea of "Breton" and become able to write without
referring to a dictionary every 10 seconds.

Inspiré par le grand homme (et participant de notre forum) emk, j'ai mis en ligne un
petit enregistrement dans lequel je récite le début de "Hygiène de l'Assassin", le
premier livre par Amélie Nothomb. Ce n'est qu'une exercice de prononciation; n'hésitez
pas de me corriger, je suis certain qu'il y a des fautes.

En plus, aujourd'hui j'ai étudié un peu de breton, mais j'ai la 52ème leçon (dans la première vague) à faire.

Wow, your accent sounds *awesome* to me, I think the best I've heard from a learner on
this site. I'm jealous. How long have you been studying French? :-)

Tough question to answer. I learned about 20 words of French while living in Canada, I
believe (and also some words on holiday in France when I was a kid, but there was
really nothing in it). I spent four years learning French in high school, but dropped
it eventually to focus on sciences. I then had a break for about six years, in which I
spoke French just once. I then spent two years travelling between the Netherlands and
Belgium, but I never really spoke a lot of French (outside of some courtesies and
buying things in shops, which I could manage in French). Subsequently, I lived in
Brussels for two months, with French people, and then my French started to finally take
off. I put it aside for a while but have taken classes during two trimesters at the AF
and I have spent a holiday in France (six days) this year.
I don't know what part of that all counts as studying or as "learning" because it's
been very on-and-off. When I started to have to reuse my French, I found that I could
produce simple sentences, but I lacked a lot of advanced grammar, vocabulary and a lot
of colloquial slang. I have since absorbed some but not all of that. But I haven't
noticed much change in my accent over the years; that solidified in my teens.
I think my weak point is articulation (but that goes for every language, not just for
French); you will notice I swallow some vowels whole (sullicitation instead of
sollicitation), I falsely pronounced the "s" for tous les journaux (it's not pronounced
there) and there are some other small mistakes. I am also not sure about my sentence
prosody in general, although I do not think there are any single phonemes in French
that trouble me.

I liked your accent, too. It was so good that I had my usual problems understanding spoken French, which normally only occur with native speakers. Because of that, I can't really elaborate on any suggestions for improvement, but I simply think your accent sounds very French.
Keep up the good work!

It's very nice! I notice few mistakes of the accent: " закричал" and "сторонам" the accent is one the third syllable.

Yeah, and the bad thing is закричал crops up later and then I do get the stress right.
Weird since the book has the accent marks... I still don't master Russian as well as I
would like to.
