Hello Everyone!
My name is Kat, and I'm a newbie here on HTLAL~ I'm an aspiring polyglot, and I joined HTLAL (after lurking for months now) to help me learn languages. I'm really very interested in Asian Languages and Latin!
My native language is Filipino (Tagalog), and English is a *close* second. Though I do remember studying English a couple times a week in school ("change Y to I and add ES! Haha!), I don't remember having to memorize or do anything to master the language. Up to this day, I still don't know how I learned it. Haha!
When I moved to America when I was 17, I had no difficulties communicating with anyone, and I entered college right away. Though I do find myself having no difficulties expressing myself in writing or speaking, and my reading comprehension is at least up to par with my peers, there's one thing in English that I can't do: make jokes. I understand jokes, slang, idioms, etc., but I can't make them myself. In Filipino, on the other hand, I'm a jokester. Oh well.
Anyway...
I'm very excited to finally start learning languages. I remember picking up Spanish and Japanese texts as a child, but was discouraged because I had no other resources and I had no one to share it with (Filipino suburbs are one homogenuous bunch).
I'm starting with Esperanto, as I find it more accessible. While studying Esperanto, I'll be working on "Remembering the Kanji" in preparation for my Japanese studies.
Looking forward to hearing from you guys, getting valuable feedback, and learning new languages along the way.
Have a good one! ^^

Thanks, Jinx!
Thanks, Serpent! "Kumusta" is actually from the Spanish "Como esta." We just added some Filipino flair in it. Haha!
