Hi, my name is Annie. I'm 15 years old and from the US. I've been lurking here for a
while and finally decided to introduce myself. I've been interested in languages for
most of my life, and my goal is to be proficient in as many languages as possible!
Learning languages is really my passion. I seem to be the most interested in Asian and
Scandinavian languages, but I love too many to pinpoint which ones I love the most. I
pick up languages rather quickly, and I have little to no trouble studying a number at
a time (although I am careful not to overwhelm myself and not to dabble too
much, haha)
I'm taking both French and Spanish in my school (the only ones offered, sadly), and I
love them. I started French when I was twelve and Spanish this school year. By the end
of my high school career, I will have completed up to French 201 and Spanish level 4
(not sure what that equals in terms of college levels). I also do self study on both of
them.
I started taking Japanese classes outside of school in September 2010. I love these
classes (although it's a difficult language for me) and will continue them until the
end of my high school career. Next school year I'll be eligible to take language
classes for college credit (this year they offered Greek and Italian) which I am very
happy about. :) I also have several other language class options to choose from,
including Irish (I am Irish, yay), German, and others. I can tell that I will be a very
happy language lover during these next two years before college!
I recently started to study Norwegian on my own, and I absolutely love it. I hope to
pursue this and I also really want to study Icelandic in years to come. They are both
gorgeous languages!
There are many languages that I want to learn in my lifetime, and if I listed them all
it would be too long. After all, that's what the hit list is for. I can’t see myself
doing anything else with my life except study languages. :)
Wow, I hope this wasn’t too long. Anyway, nice to meet everyone!

Oh, good. :) I find it really interesting that Finnish is not like the languages that
surround it geographically (save for Sami) and I have several native speakers as friends,
so I'd love to learn it! I find it extremely pretty to listen to too.

Thanks. :) Yes I am! Umm well for me it's probably one of the most difficult languages;
pronouncing it is very simple but the grammar is what is difficult for me... But I really
do love it a lot, so it's worth it for me to take some extra time and put more effort
into it :) I think it's also useful, if you want to choose your languages that way!

Hi,
I am three times older than you :-( My interest in languages also started when I was your age. I wish you the best of luck with your studies.
Impressed to see that you are studying my language, Norwegian, and that you love it. May I ask if there is a particular reason why you chose Norwegian rather than any of its close neighbours, Swedish and Danish?

Thanks! I'll think about it... But, I think I'll start learning it later... Now I'm trying to put more effort in my Korean :P

Thank you! There isn't any particular reason, I don't think. I think a big part of it is
that I like how Norwegian sounds.

Good luck! Although I found that about as hard as Japanese, which is why I decided to
learn it at a later date... (except for the writing which was 100 times easier)
