I think you mentioned this on another thread I then lost track over but I was going to
thank you for the tip... Because of it one box of Buffy is now standing here and if you
need to set it up as parallel texts as I do you can find the English transcript here :
Buffy transcripts

You may have more luck with recent TV series on DVD, which generally seem to have
subtitles, which in turn occasionally correspond with the dialog. *sigh*
Right now, I'm relying heavy on a box set of Buffy contre les vampires from
Amazon.fr and this marvellous discovery:
Buffy transcripts!
There's also a set of Amelie subs floating around on the internet.
If you find any other cool series or movies with word-for-word subtitles or
transcripts, please do share. :-) |

Getting Region 1 DVDs with subs matching the actual words is very hard (the movie A Very Long Engagement does). But if you import region 2 French movies you'll have a lot more success provided that the movie comes with subs/closed-captioning (they're getting better with that). Mind you, if you import dubbed TV series you'll have the same problem (though the Chuck DVDs are pretty close). Some French series will have closed-captioning. From what I've heard Kaamelott and Bref do (I also heard that the Canadian release of Kaamelott has English subs as well which is really useful if you're not advanced or if you want to get a non-French speaker into it). Would have to check for the others since they're not always good about providing them.
