I just thought of this resource when thinking about another topic. A French conversation
course I took was actually a sort of film class where we learned pertinent vocabulary and
did various writing and conversation exercises about the movie. This is the text we used:
Cinema for French Conversation by Anne-Christine Rice which consisted of guides
for all the movies it covered. The publisher has similar guides for Spanish, Italian,
Portuguese, German and Russian. Since they're textbooks there are several editions (with
new films added) and so earlier editions will be much cheaper. And if you browse Amazon,
you'll find other similar guides from different publishers as well. It can be helpful if
you still need some help with listening comprehension by providing useful context and
vocabulary.
