I like this question much better than the top-10 listing. This forces me to concentrate more and even ends up being useful to myself as a rough kind of roadmap. So, here goes:
Mandarin Japanese Arabic Russian Greek* * Same comment here as the Cap'n: Certainly the last one, and perhaps some of the other ones too, would depend on where my mood takes me. EDIT: The change of mood struck already, though it was more a case of absent-mindedness. Hungarian changed to Greek. I just forgot about Greek when I was writing the list. This is a mean post--making me give up some of my babies!
Luckily, you wrote that the languages we are already advanced in don't count... So, here goes: Already know well: English German (I love Germany) Swahili Next five: French Arabic Spanish (I refuse to live in the US without knowing Spanish!) Amharic Kinyarwanda Basically, I want to be able to go all over Africa and communicate with as many people as possible.
