I just took a quick look on amazon.de and found some famous comics translated into German, but I was wondering if anyone had suggestions for native German comics? Something non-childish, preferably. While I'm asking, I wouldn't mind recommendations for Swedish as well. |

For Swedish I'd recommend Arne Anka, about a depressed, alhoholic, failed poet, bearing a close physical likeness to Donald Duck. He is usually situated in a bar, discussing politics, culture, and life in general in a rather cynical manner.
I have also heard much good appraisal for Rocky and Simons 120 dagar. You can read more about them here:

EDIT: Apparently you can find some pages of both Arne Anka and Rocky here:

For Bulgarian I can recommend my own comics (or more like a graphical novel) but beware, it's a bit ugly ^_^.

Are you guys kidding? Comics are probably the best way to learn a foreign language. Not the lame ones
with punchlines that you find in the newspapers, but proper ones like graphic novels. I didn't know any
casual German until I read Akira in it. They have great language but it's not as overwhelming as full novels.
The pictures also help give context even if you don't understand every word. I would learn almost entirely
from comics if I could, at least in the beginning-intermediate stages. Unfortunately it's hard to find enough
good ones which are translated. I have yet to find a foreign-language Watchmen, which is a tragedy...

It's easy to find the big-name ones like Watchmen, V for Vendetta, etc, in German on amazon.de ("Die Wächter", and "V wie Vendetta"). They're also available in Swedish on bokus.com, except there they have the English titles on the Swedish versions, so you have to hunt around until you get the one that says Språk: Svenska

Thanks, after spending slightly more than the original thirty seconds to look for it, I have found Watchmen in
Spanish, among others. I'm really happy.

Here is large collection of comics in Dutch. I'd be interested in any other good ones in Dutch that you have found.
