I see you are studying Japanese. If you would like to read the Bible in Japanese I have found a good site. It has several translations including 文語 and 口語. Also I believe that there are audio books available though I haven't used them myself. http://bible.50webs.org/ As for your question, I don't believe that any section is immensely difficult, even in Japanese (assuming you are reading a 口語 version). I personally like Revelation both in English and in Japanese. I find this book to be the most interesting. If you want everyday language, maybe Leviticus would be suited to your needs. I'd recommend the book Genesis. It has narrative-style stories which are relatively easy to understand and quite interesting. The Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John) are also good for this reason.
If you want some deep philosophy, try Ecclesiastes...that might be fun in a foreign language you are learning =P 1 person has voted this message useful | |||

How is the language in the bible in other languages? In English it all sounds old and not like modern English with the 'thee' and 'thy'...and the 'thou art'...

True, some versions are old-fashioned and use archaic language, but you can also find modern versions with modern translations, like the NIV (New International Version) for example. That translation aims for easy to understand English that still accurately reflects the original text. Hey, I know a website that would be great for this thread - it's www.biblegateway.com and has the entire Bible in several languages and in several versions. They have some of the more modern English translations like the NIV if you want to check that out, TDC. I'm not sure what the style is like in some of the other languages, though...I imagine there'd also be different versions for different languages, like it is for English.
