Hello all! I'm Lexii, and I'm a native English speaker who is studying Japanese. I started in earnest about 4 months ago and I'm quite pleased with my progress so far. I'm happy to have found this forum dedicated to those of us who self-study and am looking forward to learning and sharing with this great, supportive community!

Hi, Lexi, welcome to the forum. I used to learn Japanese when I was at school, but had to give it up as my other
subjects were suffering and I needed them to get to college. Now all I can remember is ''suika'' which means
''watermelon''. Haha, not very useful I know. :D

Thank you, Brian91 and glossa.passion! I'm having a great time poking around and reading so many opinions on language learning. Fascinating subject. I'm impressed to see how many people are multi-lingual. Learning Japanese by itself is challenging for me. I can't even imagine trying to learn another language simultaneously!
Oh, and Brian91, thanks for teaching me a new Japanese word! Suika (西瓜) is a great word to learn during these hot, sultry summer days!

Hello Lexii, good luck with your studies! I don't know how many times I wrote this, but I plan on taking up Japanese after reaching fluency in my hobby language Hebrew.
I know a few kanji without the pronunciations... haha.

I know I'm reviving a very old thread (took some real digging to find this!), but I'm trying to stay within the forum rules of one intro per member. I had a wonderful time during the few months I was here at How-To-Learn but my life went somewhat haywire over the last year and I had to put Japanese study on hold.
I'm back now, though, so I wanted to re-introduce myself here at the forums! I've forgotten a lot in the past year but I remember a lot, too, which is very encouraging. Even more encouraging is how fast I'm re-learning.
I have a lot on my plate so I don't think I'll be able to devote as many hours to study as much as I did before, but every little bit helps.
Now I just have to find and revive my old Learning Log! Hi again, everyone!
