Welcome to the forums! If you have the desire and the motivation to learn Mandarin you will do well. The age thing in my opinion is a non-issue. Well, it might be because I started studying Cantonese when I was older than you and have learned it to a fairly good level. I suggest you don't even think about that.
I saw a long time ago that Rosetta Stone was not too well thought of so I didn't buy it. However, if you already have it, see what you can get out of it. There must be some positives to it.
The Chinese language is not easy but it can be very fun to mark your progress and accomplishments along the way. The first time you can say something and have a native speaker understand it, you will be on cloud nine. Keep it fun and just keep at it!
I've used Chinesepod, ChineseLearnOnline, & Pimsleur. They are all good. You will just have to find your match.
