Hello everyone! :)

I'm so excited to finally join you amazing people! It has actually been a couple months
since I made this account, but I'd been distracted with family matters (good
ones!) and the whole business of settling into another country, and was not able to make
a post until now. I suppose a belated hello is better than no hello at all! :)

Hello and welcome! It's always nice to see new members, and people with non-English mother tongues in particular. Korean is an exciting language, and considered one of the most difficult ones in the world for learners, so you should be happy you got it for free!

(Of course, English is pretty cool, too, but not very exotic to most members.)

Kinda funny that once you read her language learning log you realise she didn't quite get it for free. But welcome, I
hope your stay in Seoul proves productive! English - Spanish - Korean - Chinese would be pretty awesome.

Hello Ari and Alexander86! Nice to meet you guys!

As for my Korean, haha, yes, it's not really free--but I'm glad that at least I have
conversational fluency, so it's more of an effort to expand my vocabulary and (vastly)
improve my writing skills than to actually learn a language from the ground up. Making my
fluency in Korean more age-appropriate is how I like to think of it!

Gosh, it would be wonderful to be a quadriglot(???). I'm really hoping to achieve fluency
in a couple more languages (helloooo Persian and German!), but I'm keeping my eyes set on
my immediate goals for now. :)

A few days on HTAL and you're already plotting your way to polyglottery, love it! And I would personally
recommend German, such a beautiful language, so often sidelined as 'harsh' for some silly reason.

Ah, since you put it as a "native language" I assumed you got it for free.

Ari - I did get it for free, at first! x) It was the first language that I learned, but
unfortunately I left it by the wayside when I picked up English and starting using it as
my primary language. :( But it's never too late to start back up! (Actually, I have no
excuse to say learning anything is late, being eighteen!)

Alexander86 - Haha, thank you! Being in such a dedicated community helps immensely. :)
And I agree, I think the German language sounds incredibly handsome. The mix of
consonants is what probably sounds "harsh" to lots of people, but to me it's very
appealing; the richness is wonderful to listen to. And of course, along with all the
cultural perks, there's always that universal fascination with the super long German
compound words! I think I might flirt with German sometime in the spring, if I've been
good with my language log goals.
