Ask them why they want to learn their chosen languages, and use their answer to guide you in finding study materials. For example, maybe your 11-year old wants to learn Japanese because they like Manga comics. They might not be able to give you a straight answer, but a bit of discussion about the subject of why might help them to think about their reasons as well.
