Week 20 11 May - 17 May
This week's goals:
- ES Reading: 105 pages 299 pages (285%)
- ES Listening: 4:40' 7:02' (151%)
---
He regresado a Noruega el sábado y por fin he dejado de ser estudiante en Bath;
presentó mi «final year project» el jueves.

The aims for next week:
- JP Reading: 70 pages (105/140 for 150%/200%)
- JP Listening: 4:40' (7:00'/9:20' for 150%/200%)

Week 21 18 May - 24 May
This week's goals:
- JP Reading: 70 pages 90 pages (129%)
- JP Listening: 4:40' 7:50' (168%)
This week I developed a PHP code to help me keep track of my reading and listening.
(more automatically than Excel at least). I'm yet to make a read-only feature (along
with a short description to log what I'm listening to, so the numbers wouldn't be
completely meaningless).

Apart from that, I haven't done much worth mentioning in Japanese except from
finishing the second The Familiar of Zero book. I'm probably not going to read the
third book; although the second half of the book was decent, it still felt like one of
those cheap fan-service ridden animes in book form.
The summer break just started (well, I finished my degree course), and I intend to
start spending more time with practicing my active skills (the lack of said practice
is the reason for not writing this in Japanese) in both Spanish and Japanese. As weird
as it might sound, I feel like my Spanish is already getting better than my Japanese.
The switching between languages only applies to passive immersion and not practice of
active skills. I'm not sure how I'm going to do active practice though; I've never
done any language exchanges before, and I think finding Japanese people who are
learning Norwegian will be quite a challenge.

Week 22 25 May - 31 May
This week's goals:
- ES Reading: 140 pages 301 pages (215%)
- ES Listening: 7:00' 14:38' (209%)
Output challenge (Spanish, writing only): 1069 / 50000 (2%)
The 1069 words are from log entries (starting 1st March), including the one below.

An attempt at writing a longer story. A dystopic kind of story where humans arrived at
another world (with no idea how they got there, and not knowing that it's their own
world millions of years into the future) but failed to subjugate the local race and
instead became the second-class citizens. The story is set a few hundred years after
the first encounter.
It's mostly based on a really old idea of mine (which explains why it is a bit silly),
and I only really write it for my own enjoyment (as well as racking up some words for
the Output Challenge; it's much easier to make up stuff than to actually write about
personal memories and the like). I'm done with the second part of it, but I want to
correct it a bit first.

I started reading 隠蔽捜査 by 今野敏, and is about a quarter through it now. Reading
crime fiction in Japanese is definitely interesting, although I'd prefer if it was
more about the crimes rather than Ryuzaki's rather conservative opinions. What I found
was that I read a lot faster when I didn't bother processing all the readings
(something that often took a while due to all the names, whose readings were presented
only once) and just powered through the sentences.
As for listening, I mostly binge-watched a Minecraft let's play by the youtuber
mostly because it wasn't frustrating at all following what he said for some reason.
With animes or other media, I'm still having some trouble understanding everything.

Nothing worth mentioning really, I continued reading 隠蔽捜査 and start to get more
into the story now, as it started focusing on more interesting themes rather than
Ryuzaki's conservative mindset.
As for listening, I kept watching Jikkyou play videos on YT and tried to look for
native podcasts without finding anything that I really enjoyed.
At the end of next week, I'll be heading to my graduation ceremony in Bath, and while
I'm in Bath, I'm not sure how much time I can spend on languages.

Sorry for the delay, I spent most of this week in Bath, where I had my graduation
cereemony earlier this week, and I didn't bring my laptop...
