When I hear uncommon words that I have learned in the past couple of months I get small flashbacks of the exact day that I had learned it. Kind of like how some songs may remind you of certain periods in your life, but with words I can actually remember the exact day very vividly, kind of spooky, any of you language learners experienced this before?

I have a very strange (and random) episode memory which sometimes reminds me of where and when I have seen a person, worn a certain t-shirt, heard a song, learned a tune, seen a word, and so on. All of this to the amazement of my friends, foes and colleagues. It doesn't happen too often for vocabulary, though.

Yeah, I can recall EXACT details of when I was learning the alphabet in Spanish (almost 5 years ago) Why "Quiero voy a el parque" didn't work, and prepositions.

It's scary really. It's like I can jump back into class.

Funny thing is...sometimes I forget when my homework is...or what I ate for breakfast... hahahaha :D

Thank goodness that this is more common, I thought I was the oddball, haha.

As I have been improving my vocab in both Spanish and English I keep getting more ''flashbacks'' than before. This must be a sign my skills are improving.

This seems to happen to me all the time, although if I am listening to music and playing a video game or whatever, if I listen to that song again I'll remember that part of the game I was playing when I heard it, or if I'm playing the game that song will pop in my head. But nothing like this with languages.

I've definitely had that experience. I often recall, if only fleetingly, to the time and place I learned or first looked up the word in the dictionary. It happens especially with uncommon words but if I think about it, I can remember where I learned a lot of common words too.

Same happens here. I often remember the exact moment or the exact source from which I learnt a vocabulary word, but thankfully not all the time. This goes all the way back to the very first words I learnt in my second language. I think it's kinda cool, and sometimes it's exciting to use a word and remember that you learnt it from a Disney dub or a TV commercial or something.
