I attended my first Spanish meetup yesterday in my hometown, and I have to say that it was a wonderful experience.

Was this through the meetup.com website? I've used that one before for one or two languages. It's pretty good and a nice way of meeting new people.

My best resource has actually been www.conversationexchange.com

It's a bare-bones website, but it works really well for finding one-on-one conversation partners. Of course, I live in a fairly major city (Boston) so I'm not sure how successful it would be in rural areas. Worth a try, though.

Actually, I'm fairly new here, but has there been any effort here to start a conversation exchange thread/resource from the userbase here? I feel like it'd be a nice addition to the site if it hasn't already happened.

There are some Skype threads on this. Do a search on Skype to find these.

I feel as though I'm in a bit of a rut. I am a fulltime university student, I am a single
dad and I work on the weekends. Needless to say that I have been struggling to maintain
my languages and add a new one this year with limited success. The end of the school year
is near though and I plan on studying more during the summer.
